With all the recent openings and closings of “Happy House” I thought I’d include this photo of the village Fish & Chip shop as it was in 1965. This ramshackle building was on the site where “Happy House” now stands. Older residents of the village have fond memories of Mr. Bester and, later, Tom and Marlene Mumford who “fried up”. The chaos in front of the shop is digging to install main services: water, drains and sewers which were put in across the village at that time.
