A view from the Green probably around 1930 before the Cambridge Gas showroom (now the library) was built. These are small cottages – note that there are five front doors  meaning that each cottage probably had one downstairs room and one upstairs with a scullery at the back. There would be no running water or bathroom.. The Mannings owned these cottages and sold them for re-development. Note there is no gap between the cottage and the methodist chapel so that everything, including rubbish had to be brought through the chapel front door. When the land was sold, the Methodists bought a strip to solve this problem which still exists today.
