One hundred years ago horses were the prime movers of all farm produce. This month we see a picture of a lovely horse sent in by David Hunt, He says: “Attached is a photo of Prince – (who died in 1928). He worked here at 26 Station Road, Willingham for the Burling/Askew family. I still work in his stable!” David believes that the barrels were full of apples heading off to market, possibly by train. Willingham had a strong “heavy horses” following and annual shows well into the 1970s and we have a number of photos of these events.
