Many will be surprised to know that the “Black Bull” pub – now renamed “Porterhouse” – was on the corner of Station Rd and Berrycroft long before the current pub was built in 1960s. As can be seen, it was right on the corner and was demolished when the junction was upgraded and widened. The pub was owned by Greene King and the Landlord was George Lack with his wife Ruth. Their daughter Peggy later took over as Landlady. There were many pubs in Willingham during the 20th century before television took over for evening entertainment!
