It’s the 1960’s and at the end of feast week a large Salvation Army band plays on the green. You might wonder why the cars are parked all over the place but it those days a road ran right across the green and along the back. Of more interest is the building in the background, demolished in the 1970s. It was actually an old brick building but after WW2 the owner rendered it adding false beams and painting three scenes in the upstairs “windows” each with a sailing ship. What a shame this eccentric building has gone!
