In the days before the big supermarkets people did most of their shopping in the village and there were many grocery shops serving their needs. Here is one that is long gone. Although hard to read, the prices seem to be post-decimalisation so it’s probably in the mid 1970s. You may recognise this as the shop on Church Street now occupied by an accountant’s business. Allegedly, Raven’s shop on the High St. strongly opposed decimalisation and held out for ages – converting people’s money to Lsd and back again when making purchases.
