Long Stanton Station as I remember it, with a steam hauled train (NOT a bus!) approaching from Swavesey. The first time I used this station was in February 1957 when I, my parents and siblings alighted from a Kettering to Cambridge train. The last time was when my wife, daughter and I departed to live in Cyprus. When we returned in 1968, the "people who know best" had closed it.

Posted by Roger Elsom (guest) on 25 Nov 2007: This cottage in George St was occupied by dads cousin Reggie Smith and his wife Girtie. As a boy I went to Reggies farm every Saturday morning and helped to muck out the pigs.

Jake Collet ~ wrote motto in the pavilion. When the great scorer comes to write against your name, hell not ask if you won or lost, but how you played the game.
