The mill got so decrepit, dad was worried to death it would fall down, and by then there were glasshouses and things on the acre plots. In those days there was no grant for repairs, so he got a gang in, and they pulled it down. (M. Manning)

Taken from the field behind, which used to be split into one acre plots. People may be Stan Dodds (Splonco) and May Dodds. Even then you can see the mill was in very bad repair. (M. Manning)

Another class was at the boys playground end, which for some reason I never went into, but think Mr Caple took classes in there occasionally.
Class 5 was at the girls end, and run by Mr Austin. (M. Manning)

This is from the girls playground, looking into part of the boys playground. The building at the end was the infants classrooms, and they had their own playground the other side of it. That was classes 1 & 2. Class 2 was Miss Jeeps. Class 3 (Mrs Ingle) and class 4 (Mrs Easy) were in a wooden portacabin (the chicken hutch), behind the bike sheds and kitchen facing out onto Earith Road. (Mandy Manning)

This is back to the HMs house, looking through the Girls playground gate. The wooden building was the old E-Service Mens Club. This was bought by Mick Coxhead, who lived at the Gables when the new Social Club was built. It is still there today, alongside what was my grandfathers garage. (M. Manning)

This is from about the join of the girls and boys playgrounds (by my time we were allowed to mix). The fence marked the end of the girls playground. The houses are those in Fen End. (M. Manning)

This is looking through the girls' playground, and shows the head masters house. When I was there, it was Mr and Mrs Caple. Dad informs me it always was the HM house, and was built with the school. Mrs Caple took needlework, cooking, and the remove classes in a separate building. (M. Manning)
